How to get wifi speaker to announce when the door is left open?

Programmable WiFi door contact sensor – Doorsound – has many unique and built in features. One of the unique features of is the native google home announcements. Next time when your front door or your refrigerator is left open; you can hear your WiFi speaker making a broadcast announcement like below;
And all you need to do is to (1) give a name to your Doorsound device, (2) enter the Google Home speaker name in the configuration. YES! Easy like that! As long as the Doorsound and the Google Home speakers are connected to the same WiFi network you can get an announcement whenever your door is left open. Let’s do it…
Step-1 : Give a name to your Doorsound device:
Launch the the doorsound configuration form. After verifying the serial number of your device; you will be able to give a name for your device. I use one of my sensors on my medicine cabinet door so I will use the name “medicine cabinet”
Step-2 : Introduce your Google Home device to Doorsound:
Continue to fill out the configuration form and under the “what features are you planning to use?” section enable the Google Home announcements and enter your Google Home speaker name. Please remember that this name is case sensitive.

In below screenshot, I will be using an example speaker with the name “Family Room speaker”
Step-3 : Configure the alert with announcement
In my case, I want to hear the announcement if the door is left open for 30 seconds, so I check mark the “hear Google Home announcement”.
Step-4 : Submit the form
Once you complete the form, review and submit it.
Step-5 : Download the new config to the Doorsound
On the Doorsound, press and hold the config button for 5 seconds. Once you release the button, the new configuration will be downloaded to your device and you can now hear the Google Home announcements.
Step-6: Enjoy!
Bonus-1: How to get the google home speaker name:
If you own a Google Home speaker, more than likely you have Google Home app downloaded. Simply open the app and look for the name of the speaker. Below is a screenshot for my speaker “Family Room speaker”
Bonus-2 How to change google home speaker name:
After you click on your speaker in google home app, you can change the device information including name. Google Support has a very good article explaining how to change the google home speaker name.
