doorsound – Programmable Wifi door contact sensor with time delay, text message alert, and Wireless speaker announcements

When it comes to door contact sensors, they are limited and do not satisfy many applications. That is when programmable door contact sensors like our solution Doorsound comes into play. We will discuss more on what features can be programmable and how those features solve some unique needs but let’s start with describing the door contact sensors.

What is the general principle of door contact sensors?

In general door contact sensors have two parts. The sensor itself and the magnet. When the door is closed the magnet is close to the sensor. When the magnet and the sensor are separated the sensor detects the open door.

With this general understanding, door contact sensors can be used in a variety of applications. For instance, the sensor can trigger an alert or simply sound a chime notifying you that the door is open. When the door is closed the sensor stops. Though this door contact sensor mechanism is good enough for some applications, the use cases are very limited.

What if you need an alert when the door is opened after a certain amount of time?

Imagine that you want to hear an alert or alarm after your fridge door is left open for 30 seconds. You don’t want the alarm to go off each time the door is opened but only after the door is left open after a certain amount of time. Now you need more than just a contact sensor but a programmable door contact sensor.

With Doorsound you can set a trigger according to your own need. Do you want to be notified when the kids left the fridge door? Doorsound allows you to configure the door alert trigger duration so you hear the alert only when you need it.

The best part is Doorsound does not need a hub. It operates standalone.

What about the alarm duration or alert sound level?

Probably you don’t want to hear a blazing alarm when your fridge door in your kitchen is left open. However, you probably want to hear a louder alert and for a longer duration when your freezer in your garage or in your basement is left open.

Doorsound is a fully programmable door contact sensor. You can adjust how long the door open alert should sound and how loud it should sound.

Google Home and Amazon Alexa Echo support?

Doorsound has native google home speaker support. With third party applications it can also support Amazon Alexa Echo speakers

Why buy a speaker if your door contact sensor is smart enough to connect to your google home. When the door is left open, Doorsound can connect to your Google Home so the speaker can announce that the door is left open.

Though the configuration is very straight forward for the Google Home, 3rd party services are needed if you want to use your Echo device as a speaker.

What if the sound of the alarm is not enough for you to realize that the fridge in the basement is left open?

Doorsound can send you text (SMS) notifications. It can also send IFTTT notifications.

Doorsound allows you to configure how loud the alarm should sounds and for how long it should sound. However according to how big your house is or how insulated your basement or garage is, you might not able to hear these alerts. Don’t worry! Doorsound got you covered.

Additional to the sound alert, Doorsound can send you an SMS notification. All it needs is a WiFi connection. You can add IFTTT triggers and receive notifications on your phone.

Is Doorsound only for the fridges or freezers?

Absolutely not! It is developed to cover many use cases. Here is the list of the features and use cases.
